Commercial sector urges adherence to building standards regardless of nationality

Santo Domingo.- Ten trade associations representing hundreds of companies in the formal commercial sector have issued a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to strict compliance with Dominican building regulations to ensure the structural integrity of commercial establishments and the safety of consumers. The coalition expressed support for the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED) and other authorities in strengthening oversight and control mechanisms for commercial buildings. They also urged businesses, developers, contractors, engineers, architects, and local authorities to uphold the highest standards of compliance. “Compliance with building regulations is not only a legal obligation but also essential for consumer safety, business competitiveness, and collective well-being,” the coalition stated.
